IV. Fishery
The total fishery production reached 243,931.2 tons in2022, a year-on-
year increase of 1%. The detailed number was as follows:
The fishery production reached 231,328 tons, a year-on-year growth of
0.7%, of which marine capturing 230,692.8 tons, an increase of 0.6%, and
inshore capturing 635.1 tons, a decline of 0.5%. The year-on-year increase in
production was mainly in marine fish capturing, by 8.8%, of which the
production of mackerel by 4.6%, tilapia by 29.2%, tuna by 20.1%, and herring
by 4 times. This increase was because in the year, the different forms of
fishery capturing were chosen, such as the hand-fishing activities, and bottom
gill net. Besides, shrimp capturing decreased by 25.6%, and other marine
products fell by 12.6% because of a decline of fishery reserve.
The aquaculture production reached 12,603.2 tons, a year-on-year growth
of 5.2%. The aquaculture production was mainly inland with the production of
12,369.5 tons, a year-on-year surge of 11.8% (focusing on fish culturing in
districts such as Tanh Linh, Duc Linh, and Phu Quy and intensive shrimp
culturing in districts such as Ham Tan, Tuy Phong, Ham Thuan Nam, Ham
Thuan Bac, and La Gi), of which inland fish reached 7,103.7 tons, a year-on-
year increase of 1.8%, and inland shrimp reached 5,195.2 tons, a growth of
28.6%. The reason for the increase was the high price of commercial shrimp,
enabling farmers to renovate ponds and add breeds to increase the production
for the holidays and lunar Tet in2022.
