hectares,  a  year-on-year  surge  of  43.7%  (of  which  the  newly  planted

                     production  forest  3,977.1  hectares,  a  growth  of  44.9%;  the  defense  forest
                     3,977.1  hectares,  an  increase  of  44.9%;  the  newly  planted  protection  forest
                     18.1 hectares, a growth 11.7%). In the year, early rainy weather was favorable

                     for afforestation.
                           IV. Fishery


                           The total fishery production reached 243,931.2 tons in2022, a year-on-
                     year increase of 1%. The detailed number was as follows:

                           The fishery production reached 231,328 tons, a year-on-year growth of
                     0.7%,  of  which  marine  capturing  230,692.8  tons,  an  increase  of  0.6%,  and
                     inshore capturing 635.1 tons, a decline of 0.5%. The year-on-year increase in
                     production  was  mainly  in  marine  fish  capturing,  by  8.8%,  of  which  the

                     production of mackerel by 4.6%, tilapia by 29.2%, tuna by 20.1%, and herring
                     by  4  times.  This  increase  was  because  in  the  year,  the  different  forms  of
                     fishery capturing were chosen, such as the hand-fishing activities, and bottom
                     gill  net.  Besides,  shrimp  capturing  decreased  by  25.6%,  and  other  marine

                     products fell by 12.6% because of a decline of fishery reserve.

                           The aquaculture production reached 12,603.2 tons, a year-on-year growth
                     of 5.2%. The aquaculture production was mainly inland with the production of
                     12,369.5  tons,  a  year-on-year  surge  of  11.8%  (focusing  on  fish  culturing  in
                     districts  such  as  Tanh  Linh,  Duc  Linh,  and  Phu  Quy  and  intensive  shrimp

                     culturing in districts such as Ham Tan, Tuy Phong, Ham Thuan Nam, Ham
                     Thuan Bac, and La Gi), of which inland fish reached 7,103.7 tons, a year-on-
                     year increase of 1.8%,  and inland shrimp reached 5,195.2 tons, a growth of
                     28.6%. The reason for the increase was the high price of commercial shrimp,

                     enabling farmers to renovate ponds and add breeds to increase the production
                     for the holidays and lunar Tet in2022.
