II. Livestock

In2022, livestock production witnessed a stability and positive growth, of
which cattles and pigs showed a rising and stable growth, while buffalo saw a
slight decrease. The live weight prices in the last months of the year increased
due to the demand for consumption on holidays and Tet. Enterprises and
livestock farms focused on developing livestock population, of which poultry

population witnessed a favorable development and the epidemics was under
control. A number of newly establishments and farms operated in large-scale
chicken raising, which contributed to the increase in the total number of

                     poultry population.
                           1. Buffalo and castle raising

The total number of buffaloes in the province reached 8,525 heads, a

year-on-year decline of 0.2%. Due to a slow growth of the population
compared to other livestock’s, the price of live weight buffalo recorded a slight
decrease. Therefore, households reduced their raising. Thanks to a stable
development of castle raising, a number of models of industrial grass growing

for fattening cattle were applied in districts like Bac Binh, Ham Thuan Bac,
and Tuy Phong, etc. This was a trend of economic development for rural
households. The castle population in the province reached 179,355 heads, a
year-on-year increase of 3.6% (mainly the cattle for meat).

                           2. Pig raising

The total number of pigs in the province reached 355,463 heads

(excluding piglets), a year-on-year surge of 10.4%, (of which 134,581 heads
were raised by enterprises, sharing 37.9% of the total livestock population, the
remaining 220,882 heads owned by households and farms, sharing 62.1% of
the total population). The proportion of pigs in the province showed a shrink

in households and an increase in enterprises and hi-tech livestock farms (CP).
This is because household farms faced the risks of epidemics, could not
identify the market, and got losses when prices declined. In the meanwhile, CP
farms and enterprises who owned high-tech facilities and were able to control
