+ Dragon fruit: in2022, the total area of dragon fruit in the province
reached 27,787.7 hectares, a year-on-year surge of 15.4 %; the yield reached
215 quintals/hectare, a drop of 6.7 quintals/hectares; the production reached
594,005.2 tons, a decline of 12.8%. The production area witnessed a shrink in
most of the districts, specifically: Ham Thuan Bac 2,019.8 hectares, Bac Binh
1,538 hectares, Ham Thuan Nam 1,045 hectares, La Gi 183 hectares, Ham Tan
105 hectares, Tanh Linh 74 hectares, and Phan Thiet 23.8 hectares. Due to a
decrease in imports from Chinese market, a sharp drop in selling prices,
together with escalation of labor and fertilizer costs, more farmers deserted
farming, which was quite different from previous years when most households
still lighted during off-season.
+ Cashew: in2022, the total area of cashew reached 18,329 hectares, a
decline of 212.1 hectares comparing with the same period of 2021 (the
decrease in the area was mainly because the area gave low yield, leading to the
fact that people shifted to planting other crops, or a few of them shifted to non-
agricultural production and construction land). In recent years, some localities
planted grafted cashews, so there was an improvement in the yield. However,
most of the cashew areas in the province were mainly for traditional cashew
varieties with low yield. Especially, the cashew was planted on infertile sandy
soil in northern districts, resulting in the low economic efficiency.
+ Pepper: in2022, the total area of pepper in the province reached 1,028.2
hectares, a year-on-year drop of 8.5 %; the yield reached 13.7 quintals/hectare,
an increase of 0.08 quintals/hectare; production reached 1,410 tons, a decline
of 114.1 tons. Due to a reduction of pepper prices for a long time, the
producers cut down some old pepper areas.
+ Rubber: the total area of rubber in the province reached 45,004
hectares, a year-on-year growth of 2.3 %. In2022, the rubber export market
shown no positive signals, and the harvested products were mainly consumed
domestically.
+ Coffee: the total area of coffee in the province reached 2.255,5 hectares,
a decline of 43 hectares comparing with that in 2021. The decline in the area
was due to the conversion of inefficient old coffee areas to durian trees.
